Laminate Music — Effective Date: June 23, 2026
Laminate Music ("Laminate," "we," "our," or "us") is a social music logging app that lets you track albums, log concerts, and share what you're listening to with friends. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
By using Laminate, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, username, and display name. You may optionally add a profile photo and bio.
Music service data: If you connect Spotify or Apple Music, we store an authentication token that allows us to read your recently played tracks and listening history. We do not store your Spotify or Apple ID password. We use this data solely to power the shelf sync and Now Playing features.
Content you create: Posts, captions, reactions, comments, ratings, and concert attendance records you create in the app are stored in our database.
Listening history: When you sync your music service, we store track names, album names, artist names, and listen timestamps to build your vinyl shelf and track album progress.
Location data: If you grant location permission, we use your approximate location to show nearby concerts and contribute to location-based music charts. We do not share your precise location with other users. Location data is used in aggregate and is not stored permanently against your account.
Device information: We may collect basic device information (OS version, app version) for debugging and crash reporting purposes.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Other users: Your username, display name, profile photo, posts, shelf, ratings, and concert attendance are visible to other Laminate users as part of the social experience. Your email address is never visible to other users.
Third-party services: We use the following services to operate Laminate:
Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data.
Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data — including your profile, posts, listening history, ratings, and shelf — is permanently deleted from our systems. This action is irreversible.
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure token storage, and row-level security on our database. Music service tokens are stored server-side and never exposed to other users.
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Laminate is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
You have the right to:
The app may contain links to third-party services such as Spotify, Apple Music, and Ticketmaster. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those services. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.
